PlayStation is seemingly beginning the process of phasing out support for the PlayStation 4, as Insider Gaming has learned that some legacy services for the platform will be sunsetted in Spring 2026.
Documentation sent to Insider Gaming says that PlayStation is to start sunsetting legacy PSN features for the PlayStation 4 in Spring 2026 for new title submissions (new games submitted for the PlayStation 4). It’s stated that “this means that any new PS4 title submitted after this date will no longer be able to integrate with the following legacy features.”
The legacy features being sunset are:
- Activity Feed Web API
- Title Small Storage (TSS)
- Title User Storage (TUS)
- Users and Profiles
- Word Filters
- Shared Media Web API
According to the documentation from PlayStation, “these services are designed to provide a more unified and scalable foundation across console generations.”
First released in 2013, the PlayStation 4 is now approaching its 12th anniversary, with its successor, the PlayStation 5, now approaching its fifth. That being said, many people still play on the PlayStation 4, with hugely popular titles like Call of Duty still being released on the platform, as many people have yet to upgrade.

However, the news that PlayStation is not starting to sunset some features for the platform could suggest that support is slowly being phased out.
